NextUp Sports Group is a full-service management team designed to serve the needs of collegiate athletes as they seek to capitalize on their name, image, and likeness through commercial sponsorship opportunities. Founded by University of Florida Students studying sports management and journalism, NextUp is ready to assist athletes with the next step in their careers. Chief Legal Officer, Jason S. Weiss, provides expert legal counsel to ensure that all proceedings adhere to NCAA, State, and Federal regulations to protect our athletes and serve their best interests.
The team’s specialization in legal matters, sports representation and development, and social media management serves our athletes to the fullest extent as they navigate the quickly developing and changing NIL space. Through already established professional relationships, networking, and a limitless drive, our team works tirelessly to take our athletes to the next stage of their athletic and professional careers.
Garrett Schreiber
Co-Founder, Chief Executive Officer
Garrett Schreiber is a University of Florida student studying sports management. Garrett has worked with multiple companies in the sports industry including the Israel Elite Hockey League, the first professional hockey league in Israel, where he served as a production and social media intern. Garrett also currently works at Sheer Sports Management, a management company for professional boxers based in Los Angeles, California, where he serves as a Talent Management Agent, providing services for over 10 professional boxers. Garrett also serves the University of Florida as the Chairman of the ACCENT Speakers Bureau, where he works with high-profile talent and agents across the country to negotiate contracts and create large speaking events for the University of Florida Student Body.
Brett UngeR
Co-Founder, Chief Operating Officer
Brett Unger is a University of Florida student studying journalism with a focus on sports journalism and social media. Brett is highly experienced with social media, having built and managed multiple accounts with over 50,000 followers. In these roles, he exponentially increased engagements through interactions and content creation, leading to significant advertisement and brand endorsement deals. Brett has also worked as a social media intern for the Florida Gators athletic department, familiarizing himself with the social media industry surrounding collegiate athletics. Furthermore, Brett served as an experienced reporter for ESPN Gainesville, writing multiple stories about trending sports in the North Florida Region.
Jason S. Weiss
Chief Legal Officer
Jason S. Weiss, Esq. graduated with a B.A. with honors from the University of Florida and with a J.D., cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law. Mr. Weiss concentrates his area of practice in commercial/business litigation, sports and entertainment, and business transactions. Mr. Weiss has extensive sports and entertainment law experience, including representing professional football, baseball, and soccer players, rappers, bands, radio personalities, mixed martial arts fighters, boxers, actors, and models. Jason has also negotiated, drafted, and litigated recorded music and video deals, distribution agreements, publishing agreements, and endorsement deals for athletes. He serves as a legal advisor to professional athletes, performers, and entertainers in all aspects of their professional and personal activities. He is also involved in E-sports and sports apparel businesses.
